The Casinhas da Laurissilva were born from the dream of a family that wishes to keep it alive: to provide those who visit us with a unique stay immersed in nature, where unforgettable memories are created among the magical corners of the Laurissilva Forest of Madeira Island.
Located between Encumeada and São Vicente, in a secluded and untouched spot, these little houses offer the sensation of diving into the heart of the island, on a true journey to the natural past of millions of years. Just as Jules Verne imagined in his Journey to the Center of the Earth, here the adventure unfolds without the use of new technologies—only by walking, observing, and contemplating what nature offers us. An invitation to explore this timeless paradise, known as Sítio da Madeira.
In this setting, it is possible to admire a vast forest expanse and impressive geological formations that have withstood time without human intervention. Visitors can discover the richness of the Laurissilva Forest, habitat to numerous species that established themselves here millions of years ago, through a fascinating process of ecological succession.

The Space
The little houses are set in a picturesque landscape in the heart of the Laurissilva Forest, surrounded by waterfalls, water channels, and hiking trails. The accommodation comprises six houses, each with its own space, yet allowing for harmonious sharing of common areas. The property extends over a large plot with fruit trees that guests can freely enjoy. Parking is private and free.
Guest Access
Our guests have full access to the property's outdoor space, where they can enjoy a unique and immersive natural environment. The leisure areas have been designed to provide moments of pure relaxation, whether resting to the sounds of nature, exploring the verdant nooks, or savoring fresh fruit picked directly from the trees.
One of the property's main highlights is the imposing 77-meter waterfall, a true natural gem that impresses with its grandeur and beauty. The water gently cascades down moss-covered rocks, creating a visual and auditory spectacle that conveys peace and tranquility. On sunny days, the rays reflect off the falling droplets, forming small rainbows that make the scene even more magical.
The place is perfect for moments of contemplation and photography, but also to feel the freshness of the humid breeze that invigorates the body and mind. If you enjoy nature in its purest state, this will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your stay.
